We will have a Handmade Soap Making workshopon 25 April 2015.

Class Content:
1. Basic knowledge about handmade soap.
2. Get to know the oils and other ingredients
3. Formula for the oils
4. Each student will have one set to practice
5. Take home 800g of soaps (make during the class).

** ** Each participant will need to bring 1 cleaned and dried milk/juice cartons (1 Liter size), this will be used as the soap mold.

We take only 6 people per class. Seat confirmation is upon the received of your deposit.

Savon de Marseille (Marseille Soap) has been crafted since the Middle Ages in the South of France.  It is exquisite and well known for ultra-moisturizing skin care. Purple Cloud Ointment 紫云膏

This is an ancient Chinese  medicine recipe, with the direct translation we called it Purple Cloud Ointment 紫云膏.  This ancient recipe works like magic to enhance skin healing.  It is handmade with chemical free,  100% vegan and edible ingredients.  I was told that it is great for burns, chaps, cuts, pimples, wounds, eczema and etc … I have started to make this ointment for 2 years now, I am 100% assure it benefits in relief the insect bites , pimples and wounds but eczema, as I don't really have a real experience on eczema until the recently experience with my sister's 4 months old baby, who was suffering with eczema.   7 days, it only took a week to reduce all the redness on her face, arm and legs.  It works wonderful and amazingly. 

I decided to write this post so that Purple Cloud Ointment 紫云膏 can be introduced and shared with more people. 

A basic formula includes:

紫草 Zi Cao (English Name: Gromwell Root, Lithospermum) - Clears heat, Cools the blood, Relieves fire toxicity while venting rashes . root has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory action, and it promotes healthy blood circulation.

当归 Dong Quai (Angelica sinensis) - It is used for swelling, puss, skin irritation, and for skin regeneration. a blood nourishing herb

没药 Resinae Myrrh / Mo Yao - Moves Blood, Dispels Blood Stasis, alleviates pain, relaxes sinews, promotes movement of Qi, reduce swellings, and generates flesh.

白芷 (Angelica dahurica )- expel cold to stop pain, diminish swelling.  It also has the special effect on treating acne, blackhead, and pimples.

2. 母乳皂將甘油完整的保留在肥皂之中，幾乎佔了手工皂的25%左右。因為甘油是十分天然的保濕滋潤劑，所以使用時會比一般市售的香皂來得滋潤.

3. 母乳皂完全使用天然的材料，絶不添加防腐劑、抗氧化劑、發泡劑、硬化劑、膠結劑以及化學合成界面活性劑。  

4. 母乳皂製作過程並沒有添加清潔化學物質，因此當手工香皂遇到水之後，約24小時內會完全中和分解，所以也不會造成環境的污染與負擔，讓我們享受舒服的洗澡樂之餘，也可以同時做好環保。

關於母乳皂的保存期限

母乳皂在保存良好的形況下，大概可放1-2年。尚未使用的母乳皂，請放在通風乾燥的地方，不要晒到太陽。不過母乳皂在已經可用時，就像食物般，趁著新鮮時要儘快使用，因為皂中並無添加防腐劑及抗氧化劑。

母乳皂使用方法

母乳皂遇水後，通常會比一般市售的香皂更容易軟化，因此使用過後的母乳皂請置於能濾水的皂盤上。使用時利用海棉，或先在手上搓出泡泡後再抹在身上，盡量不要直接用母乳皀往身上抹。這樣的使用方式，會使手工皂更持久耐用。

母乳皂可同時用來洗臉，洗身體嗎?

可以的，母乳皂是非常溫和的。但通常臉上分泌的油脂會比身上來的多，適合臉部油性的母乳皂用來洗身體會感覺較乾，中性或乾性膚質或許就没這方面的問題，所以洗臉、身體是同一塊皂也是OK的。

母乳皂可以用來先頭髮嗎?

可以的，像是純橄欖油母乳皂也是有人把它當成洗髮皂使用。不過拿來洗髮或許會稍嫌黏膩些。这要看个人的喜好了。

為什麼母乳皂的表面會出汗?

這是因為母乳皂中佔有1/4強的甘油吸收了空氣中的水份，而產生的狀況，靜置即可，請放心使用。

母乳皂為什麼比市面上的香皂還要容易軟化變形？

母乳皂主要成分是油和母乳，因此含有多量甘油和角鯊烯等保濕成分，在使用中母乳皂表面會出現透明的黏稠物，這就是保濕成分，這種物質對皮膚非常有益，也是使肥皂溶化變形的原因。

為什麼母乳皂的價格會比市售的香皂高出許多?

我们的母乳皂是採不破壞營養素，用好品质的植物油，保留甘油的低溫製作方式，從製作完畢經過皂化過程到熟成才可以使用，需花費短則3～4週，長則8週以上的等待時間。這其中的人力及花費的精神，是一般以機器高溫大量生產低成本的香皂所無法能比的。因此母乳皂所耗費的高成本，會使價格相對的增高。

母乳皂和我們常用的沐浴乳、洗面乳等有何不同呢?

沐浴乳、洗面乳、洗髮精等這類的液體清潔劑主要成分是化學合成的界面活性劑，再添加乳霜或營養素雖可增加其價值，但是在液體的環境為了保存就必須要再添加防腐劑、殺菌劑、抗氧化劑等，長期使用會造成皮膚過敏或病變。一般傳統的香皂是採用油脂皂化，過程中添加防腐劑然後加鹽把肥皂析出，快速進行乾燥；現在較新的作法是使用黏結劑將合成的界面活性劑結成塊狀。這類的香皂脫脂力太強，往往造成皮膚乾裂，且含有的化學成分對皮膚不好。而具有透明質感的香皂外觀雖然漂亮，但是製造過程需要添加酒精溶劑及透明化劑才能使之透明，對肌膚來說又多了一些化學成份的傷害。

Lavender Breast Milk Soap

This is a 2-layers Lavender Breast Milk Soap.  My 2nd time doing this.  Love the Lavender smell and the color combination.  The purple one is added with the comfrey root powder (known to be good for the skin regeneration and relieve skin inflammation).  This is one of the custom made order.

Penang Turf Club Horse Show (2 to 4 December 2011)

Mother's Milk Soap - the BEST soap

For breast feeding mothers, one of the situation they face is to deal with their excess milk after feeding the baby. They face dilemma whether to continue keep the excess milk in freezer or throw it away. Keeping too long in freezer might loss the nutrition values of the milk; drain it away will be kind of waste. One of the breast feeding mother told me that she wanted to donate it to hospital, however it was rejected for some reasons.

Have you ever thought of mother’s milk could turn into soaps? Mother’s milk is one of the most natural ingredients and is full of vitamins, enzymes and nutrition. Mother’s milk soap is made with good and natural oils that suitable for adults and baby’s skin.

The mother’s milk soap that we produce contains olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, lye and of course include mother’s milk . High content of olive oil makes the soap precious with moisturizing effect. The soap has creamy texture because of the rich mother’s milk.

You may pass us the mother’s milk, we will produce the soap for you.  You may also customized your soaps in term of the size, flavors (with essential oils) and the hardness.  We charge reasonable price for the soaps.

A: No. Because what we use on our skin, is the same as what we eat, it will go directly into our body system. Always consider fresh and good ingredients.

2. Q: If the mother is having sickness/taking medicine, can we use the milk to make soap?
A: My first question will be, will you give the milk to your baby? If the answer is no, then we don't make them into soap as well.

3. Q: Why your mother's milk soap so soft and easily melt?
A: That's because of the formula used, I always make mother's milk into Marseille Soap which has higher content of Olive oil. If you prefer harder soap, you can always let me know and we can adjust the formula accordingly.

4. Q: How long it takes to make the soap?
A: Each batch of soap will take 30-45 days to cure (to complete the saponification process and reduce the pH to 9-8). It is best to give us at least a month to deliver your soaps.
5. Q: How do I send the milk to you?
A: Currently we only able to provide the service within Penang Region as the milk will need to transport in frozen form.

Castile Mother's Milk Soap - taking order

Many thanks to a friend who is generous enough to share with us her fresh mother's milk.

Using the mother's milk, I plan to made the castile soaps (with high content of olive oil). Castiles are perfect for dryer seasons as well as for dehydrated, sensitive skin, due to the high content of olive oil.  Palm oil helps to give mild lather which is gentle on skin. Olive oil is also known as rich in natural emollient properties. We will also add the Patchouli essential oils which comes with the beauty benefits, it is very good in treating mild acne problem, help to reduce breakouts and also a healing oil.


Before start making the soap, we would like to ask if anyone is interested and would like to order this Castile Mother's Milk Soap?  Will need to receive minimum order before we start making the soap. Please send me your respond at freedomsoap@gmail.com.

Custom Order for Mother's Milk Soap



Recently delivered 6 batches of Mother's Milk Soap (a.k.a breast milk), they are for Angela, Leh, Tashah, Jocelyn, Wen Ying and Ling Ling. Hope their babies and themselves enjoy and felt the benefits from the soaps. Glad to see more and more mothers appreciate Mother's milk soap especially in the Northern Region.


I do get inquiry from Southern part of Malaysia and Singapore, but due the challenges in transporting the mother's milk to Penang, I have to say sorry to them. May consider to take the orders from Southern Region once we sort out the best way to transport the mother's milk.

The 4-days Annual Penang Horse Show event ended yesterday. Our sales on soaps received very good response. Thanks to all customers, supporters, friends, RDA’s coordinators and volunteers. 感恩！

National Horse Show (NHS) in Penang

Dear All, another good news to share.
Freedom handmade soap will be on sales during National Horse Show in Penang Turf Club (17 - 19 Dec 2010). Few months back we were informed of this 4-days event in Dec, after few brain-storming sessions, we decided to display soap with our standard bar, Christmas gift pack and Horse designed soap. We like the horse designed soap very much as it is quite lively represents this magnificent creature, also it associated with National Horse Show and the works by Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA).

Our soaps are available at the RDA's booth in Bazaar area. RDA is run as a voluntary, non-profit making organization which provides opportunities for children and young adults with various disabilities. Partial of our sales will proceed to Penang branch RDA.
